Penelitian ini bertujuan mendiskripsikan dan menjelaskan: (1) struktur novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk dan novel Sinden; (2) persamaan dan perbedaan unsur-unsur pembangun struktur novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk dan novel Sinden; (3) nilai-nilai pendidikan dalam novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk dan novel Sinden.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Metode ini digunakan untuk menggali sumber informasi dan data yang berupa teks-teks sastra, sehingga data yang tampil bukan berupa konsep-konsep secara statistik. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan: (1) teknik interaktif dan mencatat dokumen dengan content analysis; (2) teknik simak dan baca catat; (3) teknik riset pustaka. Data yang sudah terkumpul dianalisis dengan teknik analisis data model analisis interaktif tiga alur kegiatan: (1) reduksi data;(2) penyajian data, dan (3) kesimpulan atau verifikasi.
Hasil temuan penelitian dengan pendekatan intertekstualitas menunjukkan bahwa ke dua novel tersebut dan hubungan intertekstual terkait dengan tema, penokohan, setting tempat, setting waktu dan setting sosial bahwa novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk merupakan hipogram, sedangkan Novel Sinden sebagai bentuk transformasinya.; (1) unsur-unsur struktur pembangun novel berupa tema, alur atau plot, penokohan, setting,dan point of view secara strukural memiliki persamaan dan perbedaan. (2) novel tersebut mempunyai persamaan dan perbedaan. Persamaan kedua novel: Alur kedua novel menggunakan alur maju. Karakteristik tokoh kedua novel menggunakan metode analitik dan dramatik dan penokohan kedua novel terdiri dari tokoh utama atau protagonis dan antagonis, sudut pandang atau point of view menggunakan sudut pandang pesona gaya “dia” Sedangkan, perbedaannya terletak pada: Tema pada kedua novel memiliki perbedaan. Tema novel Sinden merupakan bentuk spesifik dari novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk. Novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk menghadirkan tema sosial budaya yang melibatkan permasalahan yang lebih luas. Sedangkan untuk novel Sinden menghadirkan tema sosial budaya yang tidak begitu kompleks. Setting tempat kedua novel mempunyai perbedaan. Latar tempat pada novel Sinden menggunakan latar desa yang agak maju (dibawah pimpinan Priyayi) sebagai latar primer yaitu desa Sumberwungu, sedangkan novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk menggunakan latar pedesaan terpencil yaitu dukuh Paruk. Setting Sosial novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk menghadirkan sosial kemasyarkatan masyarakat pedesaan dengan penuh keluguan dan kesederhanaan, sedangkan segi sosial novel Sinden menghadirkan latar suasana masyarakat campuran antara wong cilik dan priyayi yang penuh keangkuhan. (3) nilai pendidikan yang terkandung di dalam kedua novel tersebut yaitu nilai pendidikan sosial budaya, dan pendidikan religius.

An Intertextual Study and Education Value of Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk Novel by Ahmad Tohari and Sinden Novel by Purwadmadi Admadipurwa. This research aims to describe and to explain: (1) the structure of Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk and Sinden novels; (2) the similarity and difference of elements constructing the structure of Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk and Sinden novels; and (3) education value in Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk and Sinden novels.

This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. This method was used to explore information and data source constituting literary texts, so that the data appeared is not statistically concepts. Techniques of collecting data used were: (1) interactive and document recording technique with content analysis; (2) listening, reading and recording technique; and (3) library research technique). The data collected was analyzed using technique of analyzing data with an interactive model of analysis encompassing three components: (1) data reduction; (2) data display, and (3) conclusion or verification.
The finding of research using intertextuality approach showed that the two novels and intertextual relationship related to theme, characterization, setting of place, setting of time, and social setting that Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel was hypogram, while Sinden novel was the transformation form; (1) the elements constructing the novel structure included theme, plot, characterization, setting, and point of view structurally having similarity and difference, (2) the novel had similarity and difference. The similarity of the two novels: The plot of both novels used forward plot. The characteristics of both novels’ character used analytical and dramatic methods and the characterization of both novels consisted of main character or protagonist and antagonist, and using “third person” point of view. Meanwhile, the difference lies on: The themes of both novels were different. The theme of Sinden novel is the specific form of Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel. Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel presented the social culture theme involving a broader problems. Meanwhile Sinden novel presented a not-too complicated social culture theme. Both novels’ setting of place has difference. The setting of place in Sinden novel used a rather developed village (under Priyayi leadership) as the primary background, Sumberwungu village, while Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel used an isolated rural background, Paruk hamlet. The social setting of Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel presented the social condition of rural society plainness and simplicity, while novel social aspect of Sinden presented combined society of grassroots and the Priyayi replete with arrogance as setting of circumstance. (3) the education values contained in both novels were social cultural and religious education values.
