Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hakikat dan kekuatan hubungan antara kemampuan berpikir logis, penguasaan tingkat tutur, dan sikap terhadap Bahasa Jawa dengan keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa, baik secara sendiri-sendiri maupun bersama-sama.
Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Progdi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Jawa, PTS se-Jateng, dengan ukuran sampel 89 mahasiswa yang ditentukan dengan teknik purpossive random sampling. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah survei dengan studi korelasional.
Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes, kuesioner, dan unjuk kerja yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti sendiri dan telah melalui proses kalibrasi sebelumnya. Analisis uji coba menunjukkan koefisien reliablitas rating keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa 0,99; kemampuan berpikir logis 0,87; penguasaan tingkat tutur 0,88; sikap terhadap Bahasa Jawa 0,89; sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik korelasi product moment (sederhana, ganda, parsial), dan teknik regresi (sederhana, ganda).
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: Pertama, terdapat hubungan positif antara kemampuan berpikir logis dan keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa dengan persamaan regresi Ŷ = 164,316 + 2,750 X1 dan koefisien korelasi sebesar ry1 = 0,327 signifikan pada taraf nyata  = 0,05. Dengan ry1 = 0,327 diperoleh koefisien determinasi 0,107, artinya bahwa sekitar 10,7% varians skor keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa dapat dijelaskan oleh kemampuan berpikir logis. Kedua, terdapat hubungan positif antara penguasaan tingkat tutur dan keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa dengan persamaan regresi Ŷ = 153,409 + 3,393 X2 dan koefisien korelasi sebesar ry2 = 0,365 signifikan pada taraf nyata  = 0,05. Dengan ry2 = 0,365 diperoleh koefisien determinasi 0,133, artinya bahwa sekitar 13,3% varians skor keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa dapat dijelaskan oleh penguasaan tingkat tutur. Ketiga, terdapat hubungan positif antara sikap terhadap Bahasa Jawa dan keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa dengan persamaan regresi Ŷ = 111,269 + 0,850 X3 dan koefisien korelasi sebesar ry3 = 0,398 signifikan pada taraf nyata  = 0,05. Dengan ry3 = 0,398 diperoleh koefisien determinasi 0,158, artinya bahwa sekitar 15,8% varians skor keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa dapat dijelaskan oleh sikap terhadap Bahasa Jawa. Keempat, terdapat hubungan positif antara kemampuan berpikir logis, penguasaan tingkat tutur, dan sikap terhadap Bahasa Jawa secara bersama dengan keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa dengan persamaan regresi Ŷ = 3,758 + 1,774 X1 + 2,816 X2 + 0,730 X3 dan koefisien korelasi sebesar Ry.123 = 0,561 signifikan pada taraf  = 0,05. Dengan Ry.123 = 0,561 diperoleh koefisien determinasi 0,315 artinya bahwa sekitar 31,5% varians skor keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa dapat dijelaskan oleh kemampuan berpikir logis, penguasaan tingkat tutur, dan sikap terhadap Bahasa Jawa secara bersama-sama.
Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan bermanfaat bagi penyelenggaraan perkuliahan Wasis Micara, khususnya dalam rangka meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa. Perihal tersebut sangat memungkinkan sebab temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa upaya peningkatan keterampilan berbicara berbahasa Jawa antara lain dapat dilakukan melalui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir logis, penguasaan tingkat tutur, dan sikap terhadap Bahasa Jawa.

Abstract

Relations between Logical Thinking Abilities, Speech Level Mastery, and Students’ Attitude to The Javanese Speaking Skills (Survey at the Study Programs of Javanese Language and Literature of Private Universities in Central Java). The objective of this research is to investigate the essence and strength of relation of logical thinking ability, speech level mastery, and attitude on Javanese language to Javanese speaking skills either individually or collectively.
This research used the survey research method with the correlational study. It was conducted at the Study Programs of Javanese Language and Literature of Private Universities in Central Java. The samples of research consisted of 90 students. They were taken by using the purposive random sampling technique. The data of research were collected through the instruments of test, questionnaire, and performance developed by the researcher herself and undergoing prior calibration process. The trial analysis indicated that the reliability coefficients of the Javanese speaking ability, logical thinking ability, speech level mastery, and attitude on Javanese language were 0.99, 0.87, 0.88, and 0.89 respectively. The data of research were analyzed by using the correlation analysis of product moment (simple, multiple, and partial) and that of regression analysis (simple and multiple).
The results of research are as follows: Firstly, there is a positive correlation between the logical thinking ability and the Javanese speaking skill as indicated by the regression equation of Ŷ = 164.316 + 2.750 X1 and the correlation coefficient of ry1 = 0.327 with the significance level of α = 0.05. With ry1 = 0.327, the determination coefficient obtained is 0.107, meaning that approximately 10.7% of the variance of the Javanese speaking skill score can be explained by the logical thinking ability. Secondly, there is a positive correlation between the speech level mastery and the Javanese speaking skill as shown by the regression equation of Ŷ = 153.409 + 3.393 X2 and the correlation coefficient of ry2 = 0.365 with the significance level of α = 0.05. With ry2 = 0.365, the determination coefficient obtained is 0.133, meaning that approximately 13.3% of the variance of the Javanese speaking skill score can be explained by the speech level mastery. Thirdly, there is a positive correlation between the attitude on Javanese language and the Javanese speaking skill as specified by the regression equation of Ŷ = 111.269 + 0.850 X3 and the correlation coefficient of ry3 = 0.398 with the significance level of α = 0.05. With ry3 = 0.398, the determination coefficient obtained is 0.158, meaning that approximately 15.8% of the variance of Javanese speaking skill score can be explained by the attitude on Javanese language. Fourthly, there is a simultaneously positive correlation between the logical thinking ability, the speech level mastery, and the attitude on Javanese language to the Javanese language skill as signified by the regression equation of Ŷ = 3.758 + 1.774 X1 + 2.816 X2 + 0.730 X3 and the correlation coefficient of ry1,2,3 = 0.561 with the significance level of α = 0.05. With ry123 = 0.561, the determination coefficient obtained is 0.315, meaning that approximately 31.5% of the variance of Javanese speaking skill score can simultaneously be explained by the logical thinking ability, the speech level mastery, and the attitude on Javanese language.
The results of this research are expected to be useful for the administration of Wasis Micoro lecture particularly to improve the Javanese language skill. Such an expectation is possible to be materialized as the findings of research show that the effort of improving the Javanese speaking skill can among other be done through the improvement of logical thinking ability, speech level mastery, and attitude on Javanese language.
